IKEsWORLD Zombie Blog Hop

Time for another challenge over at

ZOMBIE Blog Hop

Are you ready for this folks - IKE has done it again lol  - where else can you get digis like this!!!!!!!  My comfort zone has gone to pot, I don't even watch horror movies never mind understanding why anybody else does.  My brain is for fairies and butterflies not for blood and guts.  However, when IKE put these digi's together for the Zombie Pet Shop I agreed to join in if she created a snake to go in one of the back.  With such short notice I was keeping my fingers crossed Ike would be far to busy or sleeping to do this.  Alas no, in my mail box the next day were the Zombie Pet Shop packs to work with and yes - my lovely California King Snake who was called Nyoka was in there too - no backing out for me now.  OH dear what to do - a card, well who could I give it to, everybody I know in the real world is butterflies, flowers and fairies!!!!  Now in for a penny in for a pound I decided to make key rings using Shrink Plastic, that way I could use each of the digi's and if nothing else put them in one of my kids stockings for Christmas or maybe better still give them to my 4 year old grandson!!!!!  Now that is a plan :) his mum (my eldest daughter) has a cracking sense of humour lol.

So here we go, a book box with the Zombie Pet Shop digis made into key rings.

To  begin with I printed the digis on Shrink Plastic, only used this stuff once before so a bit of an experiment.  I coloured them with Faber Castle Polychromos pencils.
Once coloured and cut it was into the oven and pray :) - phew they shrunk and stayed flat - yep they definitely shrunk hahahha
To finish them off and seal the colour I added a layer of Mod Podge then added the key rings.
Onto the book box.  I made one of these a couple of weeks ago and decided to see if I could make another one but this time not use a pattern - just more praying it would work. Yep, seem to be praying a lot during this project - maybe that is to keep the zombies away hahahaahha
I airbrushed the outside of the book with Promarkers and added some wounds with stitches, in keeping with the ones Ike has on the digis.  The inside of the book cover was covered in black card.

The front cover used another of the digis, the shop keeper, but this time I coloured it digitally and added some textures to the skin.  I placed the digi on the front of the book cover and added Gesso round the edges (hopefully this will look like brains).  Printing a second copy of the digi I fussy cut the brains on the plate out and covered these with Mod Podge Dimensional stuff, this will be attached with foam tape when dry.  At this point I am quivering and shaking so am leaving my craft room to go drink strong coffee and recuperate with this lot dries :)

And there we have it, a book box of Zombie Pet Shop key rings ready to go on the shop keepers counter or more likely into my grandsons Christmas Stocking!!!!!  I did put a false bottom in the box, after all that is what packaging is often like!!!!! Oh how naughty of me but it bugs me when you buy something that the packaging is so big to make it look good value and the contents only really take up about a quarter of the space lol.

    1. Any deskjet printer will be fine Rebecca, wouldn't try on a laser though :) I left it to dry overnight but the ink still smudges so put a piece of paper under you hand when colouring, it helps a bit.
